AMI Project

The AMI project began in 2008. The AMI shape appeared in my sketches, fully formed, with a name. I expect there is more to it than I understand.

AMI is a compelling aesthetic and intellectual project. More complex, than it appears to be. AMI is a perfect asymmetrical biomorphic shape, celebrating line and space. It shares the enigmatic nature of apparently simple, but utterly complex and enchanting, things. Like the ubiquitous heart form, AMI is an icon, a talisman, perhaps a symbol for unity or continuity.

AMI is a living, evolving, project. It takes me to places I never expected to go. It evolved for more than ten years before I began to see it as an important group of paintings and a coherent gallery exhibition.

The AMI paintings are not pictures of something: they are something. They are optimistic, poetic, enigmatic, companions. Each AMI painting is an assemblage of integrated parts: an interesting precious object that hangs on a wall.

The roots of AMI are wide and deep. The AMI project is influenced by the confluence of physical and metaphysical currents of our time. If we survey the history of visual art, we can see the AMI project emerge in the dynamic evolutionary process.

The ten paintings in the AMI project are conceptually sophisticated and exquisitely executed. They employ unique devices and solutions. They make a significant contribution in the complicated evolution of twenty first century visual art.

The AMI Project is a multifaceted value proposition. The paintings are one-of-a-kind, high quality objects, that were produced by a specific person, at a specific place and time; with multiple, substantial, ways to prove identity and provenance.
